Iconic leader, master of ceremonies, teller of jokes, and all round nice guy.
I started cycling some 8 years ago and used to go with my friend Peter Lessiter for short rides and then entered a charity ride to Paris – we loved it. So much so that we wanted to improve and I certainly, wanted to lose weight. Being 17st on a bike is not easy but I soon learned that regular exercise is the key (Along with a few less burgers!). We decided to take a look at VC Melyd and arrived one sunny autumn Sunday to take a peek. There were only 2 other members riding that day and I have to say it was the hardest day’s cycling ever – in my life. But, as the saying goes what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and stronger I got. In fact, it doesn’t take long to be a capable club cyclist. And from there? Who knows?
As a person who doesn’t like to say no, I have found myself saying yes to various positions in the club and I can safely say that I have met lifelong friends through my association with cycling and VC Melyd.
Go On, you know you want to!
