This route is provided by the locals – BC Dwyfor, and taking in a circular route of the Llŷn Peninsular starting and finishing from Efailneweydd Sports Club just outside of Pwllheli . As Lleyn peninsula cycle routes go – this pretty much has it all.
The first harsh climb of the day is at Rhi, and then Mynydd Mawr at 24 miles for a great view of Bardsey Island / Ynys Enlli .
The route was dubbed as a “Delightfully Scenic Undulating [insert own choice word here]” by a number of riders who had ridden / reviewed the route previously. There are a lot of short steep climbs – and equally what appear to be a tonne of climbs with faux summits where we find ourselves expecting a hill top stop to find getting there reveals… another stretch of climb …repeatedly. Character building stuff. This is more than made up for by the stunning scenery.
For the more hill shy there last ten plus miles are pretty much flat – meaning fun for all to the finish heading into Pwllheli and out the other side.
A great ride on a route planned by locals… what more can you ask for.
