The now traditional get together for the last day of the Tour De France took place this last weekend to see Marcel Kittel sprint to close what has been otherwise Vincenzo Nibali’s 2014 TDF.
The day started with large groups heading over the Start / Finish point of the Llindir Inn, Henllan (home of Heavy Industry brewery) to drop off clean clothes, and then off on the Sunday rides.
Two rides headed off for the day – the more challenging 70 mile 7000ft ride taking in Black Cat and the Orme – and the shorter 30 mile heading out later in the day.
On meeting back up after the rides for some well deserved refreshments – Peter Sagan had the decency not to bankrupt our stand-in bookie – resulting in four winners of the day with their monies on Marcel. The remaining pot, along with the winnings were handed over to Cashie The Cat – who has recently completed the LEJOG ride. The £100 helped nudge their effort a little closer to their £100k goal. It is not too late to chip in.
Many thanks for everyone who took part in making the day such a success – particularly Steve / Paul / Darren, and to the understanding staff of the Llindir Inn.
