With Round One / Ruthin – of the North Wales Road Race Series almost upon us this weekend – the following press release went out via British Cycling….
The North Wales Road Race Series opens this weekend. Following the success of the series in 2015, VC Melyd have extended the series to 5 rounds including a 2-day event in May.
The opening round in Ruthin takes place on Sunday 10 April. Riders will endure a 94 km road race with approximately 1300m of climbing over two full laps of the course. Departing from Ruthin Tennis Club the race will head out onto the 32km circuit. The circuit will include the twisty bends of Nant Y Garth, the undulating road to Corwen and the fast winding road back towards Ruthin on the A494. On the 3rd lap on Nant y Garth Road, the riders will continue straight on to finish on a tough climb to the iconic Ponderosa, which is situated on top of the Horseshoe Pass.
Riders roll out at 9.30am from Ruthin Tennis Club, with a full field of riders spectators can expect an exciting battle to the finish. Report and results will be available on Welsh Cycling website following the event.

Big thanks the Darran Acton at ‘Champion Systems UK’ for supplying the series leader jerseys for the NWRR series. After each round the series leader will be issued a jersey to wear at the next round. The first jerseys will be handed out at round 2 for over 23/under 23.
