The Membership secretary is the central information holder for all membership details. This includes having details of current membership, historical data and income generated from subscriptions.


  1. Be known within the club and be available at club activities to liaise with the membership.

  2. Receive applications for membership (renewals and new members).

  3. Maintain the database of members on the British Cycling website.

  4. Issue ‘welcome’ documentation to new and prospective members.

  5. Advise committee members of new membership applications.

  6. Respond to enquiries about membership from prospective members.

  7. Issue annual renewal requests/reminders to existing members – through Facebook and via emails sent through British Cycling.

  8. Liaise with the Treasurer on subscription monies received.

  9. Maintain a record of all expenses incurred and claim back from the Treasurer.

  10. At club functions, be the ‘meeter and greeter’ for visitors and potential new members (where possible).

Person Specification – Previous knowledge/experience:

Have a knowledge of activities and culture of the VCM club. Have knowledge of record keeping. Be able to use IT and maintain the record database on BC. Have experience of dealing with people and people related skills.
