VC Melyd have introduced women specific coaching at Marsh tracks, Rhyl. We have a team of British cycling qualified coaches who are keen to pass on cycling skills, and the sessions are usually led by Julie Allen.
We had noticed there are low numbers of women joining cycling clubs, so felt it would be beneficial to provide some coaching to help women develop confidence and skills so they will feel able to join in.
We meet up on Monday nights, 7 – 8 pm at Marsh Tracks, and design sessions to build up skills, confidence and fitness. The feedback so far has been very
positive, and we have good numbers attending.
There is a small charge, £3 per week, which goes towards the running costs of Marsh Tracks. There are a small number of smallish bikes for rental for the sessions to enable to try out cycling and see if they enjoy it, £2.

To compliment the coaching, we usually have a women’s ride on a Saturday morning, 10 am, from Rhuddlan Nature reserve. This is about 30- 40 miles, and the pace is a bit slower than a usual VC Melyd ride, and is supportive to new riders, wanting to develop their fitness and skills on the road. Information about these rides can also be found on our Facebook page.
