Sunday Ride 29th November

Sunday Ride 29th November

This weeks Sunday club ride route supplied by Sally – taking in 58 Miles and 4,075ft of climbing. This route heads EAST into England, and does not collect from Rhuddlan Nature Reserve. It can be found on Strava here.

While the route was announced as being suitable for all it is quite climb heavy at the offset and return – those happy with a faster pace may wish to head back along the A548. Wales Rally GB is taking place in an arc to the left of us, so this route should work around that.

Taking into account Mark’s advice about Wales Rally GB and Paul’s suggestion about the Wirral Way, I have plotted a suggested route for Sunday.
Heading east from Meliden, NOT picking up at Rhuddlan, skirting the foothills to join the Wirral Way at Deeside to take refreshments at Nets Cafe near Burton (good cakes).
Less than 60 gently rolling miles, suitable for us all.
Clocks go back so an extra hour in bed (Donna 🙂 ). Forecast looking promising, 11 degrees and 9mph winds.

Velo Club Melyd AGM

Velo Club Melyd AGM

The next VC Melyd AGM will be on the 24th November at 8.30pm at the Marsh Tracks Office. This is open to any paid up VC Melyd Club member and I’d encourage you to attend. I’ll confirm the agenda a little close to the date, but if you do have any questions, get in contact.— Mark Allen, Club Secretary.

Anyone wanting to take part, help out, participate, know what is going on, have your say, whatever the reason – come along, get involved, support your local club. This is not just about a handful of people from the committee this is about all of us. While I appreciate it is usually hard going to get a turn out to any venue that doesn’t involve a bar… it would be good to see you all there (and if it is all – it will be cosy).

Following up on this the following was added. Lets get some names together, and get ready for the 24th.

Ahead of our AGM on the 24th November, nominations are requested for the following committee positions:

Social Secretary – possess a party spirit;
Membership Secretary – good with meeting and greeting
Kit Secretary – likes clothes;
Junior Secretary – under 18 – male or female;
Ladies Secretary – obviously a lady & over 18;
Go Ride Representative – someone from the youth coaching team;
Deputy child welfare (female) – to help Steve keep order.— Mark Allen, Club Secretary.

Your club needs you!

End Of Year Yorkshire Trip

End Of Year Yorkshire Trip

Many thanks to Rob Taylor – Away Day organiser extraordinaire – has suggested we head over to Yorkshire for an end of year adventure over the border in Yorkshire. The days in question are Friday 30th, Saturday 31st of October, and Sunday 1st November. Bikes, Hills, Winter, Friends… what is not to like?

I’m looking at arranging a 2/3 day trip at the end of October in Yorkshire, probably Harrogate area. Day 1 (Fri) arrival – 50 mile easy ride. (Sat) challenge ride 2 or 3’s teams graded to how well you did this year with a prize over a 80 mile course. (Sun) club ride 100 mile. Either stop Sunday night or return late.” — Rob Taylor

Check your diary, find your passport, and confirm interest over on the Facebook Group.

In the interim a quick reminder that Sunday July 19th is the one day excursion to suffer… sorry enjoy a 100 miles of the Peak District. Lift share places are going quickly. Contact Gary for more information.
